Nashville will be sending 18 teenagers to compete in the 2017 Maccabi Games this summer in Birmingham, Ala., more than twice as many as last year.

“We have a full boys flag football team and full girls volleyball team this year,” said Andrew Schulman, the sports and recreation director at the Gordon Jewish Community Center. “We are excited to continue to grow our numbers moving forward next year.”

The games will take place July 30-Aug. 4. And there will be a sendoff for the Nashville contingent at 10 a.m. July 30 at the GJCC.
