Rafael “Ray” H. Berk has been named president of The Temple – Congregation Ohabai Sholom. He will lead its 750-member family congregation for a two-year term.  Other newly-elected officers are: Vice President Ralph Z. Levy Jr., Treasurer Martin Sir, and Secretary Joyce B. Friedman.

Rabbi Mark Schiftan will be awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree, honoris causa, at the May 14 graduation of the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles. He is being honored for his 25 years in the rabbinate. The Temple will honor him at Shabbat services on Fri., June 1, at 6 p.m.
