Shall We Dance?

Dance.jpeg
Wednesday night folk dancers gather for fun, great music, and camaraderie.

As we approach Rosh Hashanah, most of our focus is on improving our spiritual self, but it’s also a good time to think about ways to take better care of our bodies. So why not try Israeli folk dancing? The benefits of Israeli folk dancing include great music from Israel and all over the world, good exercise for mind and body, and wonderful camaraderie. Some of us are Jewish, some are not – what unites is our love for dance.

One of our dancers, Sharon Morrow, says, “Israeli folk dancing expresses the love and heart of the Jewish people. It doesn’t matter if you cannot dance or cannot dance well. Just get up and dance. It’s worth the effort.”

One night as I was driving home from dancing, I heard the beautiful song, “I Hope You Dance,” sung by Lee Ann Womack and written by a neighbor of mine. Listen to the song and take the risk of trying Israeli folk dancing with us this year. Judy Given and I and all the other dancers will be so happy you decided to dance.  And you’ll be so glad you did!
