Sutton Korn

Sutton Korn will become a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, March 26. Sutton is the daughter of Stephanie and Stephen Korn and sister of Sarah and Sydney Korn. She is the granddaughter of Jerry and Carol Korn and Barbara Jo Saler. Sutton is a 7th grader at Ensworth and enjoys reading, writing, and acting. She is an avid soccer player and is also on the travel lacrosse team. For her mitzvah project, Sutton is collecting school supplies and canned goods for Wright Middle School, as well as accepting donations for their drama program.

Maddie Marshall

Maddie Marshall will become a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, March 5 at Congregation Micah. Maddie is the daughter of Richard and Ruth Marshall and sister to Benjamin Marshall. She is the granddaughter of Fay-Ellen Lane, Robert Braun, and Karen Marshall. A 7th grader at TPH Center of Excellence, Maddie enjoys figure skating, synchronized skating, and music. She has chosen The Gentle Barn as her mitzvah project.

Beloved Sweet 16th Bakery Owner, Dan Einstein, Dies

East Nashville residents and others across Nashville are mourning loss of Dan Einstein, 61, who died on December 16. He and his wife, Ellen, have owned the Sweet 16th Bakery and coffee shop in Lockland Springs since 2004, a place that opened before East Nashville became “hip.” Over the years, it became a gathering place for the neighborhood, a local center of the community.

Condolences to the family of Delores Friedman. Delores was predeceased by her daughter Joan Marcy Friedman and her husband Harry Friedman. She is survived by her son Frank (Mimi) Friedman. and granddaughters Jodie and Jana Friedman whom she adored.

Obituaries November 2021

Condolences to the family of Selma Kaplan Glass, 97, who died on September 19. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Glass, parents Jacob and Lillie Kaplan, sisters Frances Kaplan and May Levitan, and son-in-law Peter Pressman. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Pressman, grandsons Adam (Isa) Pressman and David (Hannah) Pressman, and great grandchildren Jarin, Ayla, Idan, Yaniv and Leora.

Amari Schneider

Amari Cecilia Schneider will become a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, November 20, at 11 a.m. at The Temple. Amari was born November 2, 2007.  Her parents are Rachel and Jordan Schneider.  Her grandparents are Judi and Steve Schneider of Boca Raton, Fla., and Karen Salvage of Hollywood, Fla. An eighth grader at Harpeth Hall, her passion is swimming.  She spends most of her days at the pool with the Nashville Aquatic Club (NAC).  At Harpeth Hall, Amari plays soccer, swims and is on the robotics team and Student Council.

Lilly Lapidus

Lilly Smantha Lapidus will become a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, November 20, at 9:30 a.m. at West End Synagogue. Lilly is the daughter of Brian and Kim Lapidus, granddaughter of Stephen and Leslye Lapidus and Joseph and Joyce Rosenfield of Dallas, Texas. A seventh grader at the University School of Nashville, she participates in cross country, soccer and basketball and is always ready to play any sport even with her brother, Max.
